Step by step: how to start your Skool community the right way
๐ Unlocks as soon as you click Sign up for Skool above.
1. Pick one person and one result Finish this sentence before you touch Skool: โI help [who] get [result].โ A community for โeveryoneโ grows for no one. Specific beats big.
2. Name it so people get it in 2 seconds Use the result in the name (e.g. โEtsy Sellers Get to $10kโ). Pick a short, clean group URL you'll be happy sharing for years.
3. Make your About page sell the result Cover image + a 1โ3 minute welcome video + 3 bullets: who it's for, what they'll get, what happens after they join. Talk about their result, not your features.
4. Turn on Membership Requests (private group) Start private so every person has to request to join. That's what lets you ask questions, see who's coming in, and keep the room high quality.
5. Ask 3 questions that work like a lead magnet 1) โWhat's your biggest challenge with ___ right now?โ 2) โWhat have you already tried?โ 3) โWhat's the best email to send you the free training?โ Their answers are your sales notes. (Skootly sends all 3 to your Google Sheet automatically.)
6. Build a โStart Hereโ module in the Classroom 3 short lessons max: welcome, how the group works, and one quick win they can get in 10 minutes. A fast win is what makes people stay.
7. Set up 3โ4 post categories Keep it simple: ๐ Introductions, ๐ Wins, โ Questions, ๐ฃ Announcements. Too many categories makes a new group feel empty.
8. Pin a welcome post with an intro template Ask everyone to comment: name, what they do, and their #1 goal. Reply to every single intro. That first reply is your first relationship.
9. Invite your first 20 people by hand Send personal DMs and texts, not a blast. 20 engaged people beat 500 silent ones, and they're the ones who'll bring their friends.
10. Show up on a rhythm, then make your offer One weekly live call (add it to the Skool Calendar) + one post a day. Approve requests daily and follow up by email. Once members are getting wins, invite them into your paid offer.
๐ง Done all 10? Book your call below and we'll set up Skootly with you.
